Afterward, both major political parties recognized that winning power through elections was the legitimate way to implement their agendas. However, the events of January 6, 2021, demonstrated that some within the MAGA-Republican movement had rejected the principle of Loyal Opposition. The concept of Loyal Opposition originated with John Hobhouse in 1826 when he coined the phrase "His Majesty's Loyal Opposition." It refers to minority parties, particularly in legislatures, that challenge the policies of the governing party while remaining committed to the core principles of democracy. She has a unique opportunity to create a legacy that not only builds on the achievements of the Biden administration but also strengthens them for future generations.
